Phoenix S&T Technology
Phoenix S&T core technology is based on the miniaturization and integration of laboratory equipment with concomitant enhancement in performance in proteins and small molecules characterizations. The product that exemplifies this approach is a patented three-dimensional nanospray nozzle chip micromolded with polypropylene for handling nanoliters quantities of sample, high sensitivity mass spectrometer detection, and seamless integration into customers' existing mass spectrometers.
The nanospray nozzles are conical structures 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm in height. The orifice of the nozzle has a 20+/- 3 µm i.d, and the outside diameter is 50 µm. These dramatically different dimensions in 3-D are manufactured in a single step in a factory.
Our products for nanospray LC-MS and microspray LC-MS applications focus on a polymeric spray tip integrated with the separation column to create a simple, non-clogging, zero dead volume solution for practitioners in proteomics and metalobomics.
The high performance, micromolded nanospray nozzles, and the polytips are deployed by a family of automated nanospray and microspray sources for every need. These sources increase the robustness, throughput, and sensitivity of nano-LC/MS, micro-LC/MS, and CHIP-Di/MS applications. Innovations such as: programmable high voltage for optimizing multiply charged compounds, dual column switching to eliminate wait time before the MS for column equilibration, and active spray controls based on current feedback to restore lost spray, all set us apart from other nanospray sources in functionality and performance.
Our products in the pipeline include high throughput multiplexed LC-MS with increased sensitivity, and two dimensional microfluidic plastic devices packed with nanoparticles for ultrahigh resolution separations and high efficiency mass spectrometry detection. This product development is partially supported by an NIH SBIR Phase 2 grant.
